Meaning & Duty

July 10th, 2009 · No Comments · General Updates, Personal Development

My 3 month transition time in Barcelona is giving me a glimpse of what it must be like to not have to worry about money. Or to be retired.

I have no partner, no children, no loans, no job – no significant duty to anyone but myself. It is an extremely liberating feeling. When you do not have a job/partner/children, you must create you own structure and meaning. It’s far to easy to sleep until 1pm when you have nothing forcing you to get up in the morning. Believe me, I know.

So how do I spend my time? I’m conscious of my time and I have some significant goals and projects that keep me busy and very excited. I’ll write more about them soon. I’m also reading a lot of interesting books, studying Spanish, traveling, and spending quality time with friends (and making a lot of new friends).

We live in a privileged age. Life is good.
